CITEL

CITEL is a body of the OAS and 'is the main forum in the hemisphere in which the government and private sector meet to coordinate regional efforts to develop the Global Information Society according to the mandates of the General Assembly of the Organisation'. It is composed of 35 member states and over 200 Associate Members. The headquarters of CITEL are located in Washington DC and it is organised by 'Permanent Executive Committee consisting of eleven members'. In addition there are three Permanent Consultative Committees relating to 'Telecommunication Standardisation', 'Radio Communication including Broadcasting' and the 'Steering Committee'.

The functions of CITEL are prescribed by the OAS Charter but basically the entity's functions are facilitating and promoting the continuous development of telecommunications in the hemisphere.

Inter-American Juridical Committee

The Inter-American Juridical Committee is an organ of the OAS serving as an advisory body on international juridical matters and promoting the progressive development and codification of international law. It also studies the possibility of states achieving uniformity across their domestic legislation.
